LYNN ELLIOT has been in the practice of entertainment law since 2006. She practices in the areas of film, television, music, publishing, gaming, advertising, art, internet, technology and digital media. Lynn is experienced in structuring, negotiating and drafting a wide variety of entertainment related agreements.
Lynn’s clients include motion picture and television producers and production companies, writers, directors, actors, musicians, songwriters, film composers, music managers, live event promoters, artists, art galleries, photographers, corporations, limited liability companies, talent management companies, record labels, publishing companies, recording artists, Internet companies, Web producers, performing artists and creators of new media content.
Lynn provides production legal services, counseling producers and production companies on their feature and short films, documentaries and television projects, including Alive Inside (winner of the 2014 Sundance Film Festival Audience Award winner for US Documentary), Precious: Based on the Novel “Push” by Sapphire, Closer to God, Day of Reckoning, The Nanny, The Rachel Zoe Project, VH1 Soul Stage and Miami Ink.
Lynn also provides Business & Legal Affairs and consulting services to motion picture, television, music, VIP ticketing, new media and digital companies. Lynn provides legal services to the SIMA Awards, an international film program and collection, curating and distributing the best impact cinema from around the globe, and was a judge for the 2014 and 2015 Nashville Film Festival Screenwriting Competition.
Lynn received substantial digital media experience while at Fox Media Network (a division of News Corp.), drafting and negotiating agreements in digital media and technology, and counseling clients on privacy matters and self-regulating policies for online behavioral advertising for this new media, digital advertising, branding and new technology division of News Corp.
She was previously an associate at Gray Krauss Stratford Des Rochers, LLP, providing music, film and television legal services, and production legal services on various motion pictures and television series. Lynn also worked as an associate at The Princeton Review in the General Counsel’s Office in New York, NY, and as a legal clerk at Equal Rights Advocates in San Francisco, CA.
Outside of her law career, Lynn has worn many hats in the entertainment industry, as a producer, actress, screenwriter and producer assistant. Lynn graduated from Ithaca College Film School and worked in film/TV production and development with producers Jonathan Demme, Ron Bozman, Carl Mazzocone, Aaron Russo and Bill Carraro, and on various productions including Bonfire of the Vanities, Delirious and Law and Order.
Lynn was in the inaugural Sundance Art & Craft of Screenwriting program and has worked as a Sundance Film Festival volunteer for the last three years in the Corporate Development and Patron Circle offices. Lynn is currently in the UCLA TV Writing Professional Program, and her screenplay Terror Within was the top 20% of the 2016 Academy Nicholls Fellowship.
Lynn is admitted to practice law in California and New York, and is pending bar admission in Tennessee. She is a member of Los Angeles County Bar Association, New York City Bar Association, Women in Film, Women in Music, Volunteer Lawyers & Professionals for the Arts in Nashville, California Lawyer for the Arts and Business and Legal Affairs Society.
Currently, Lynn maintains offices in Santa Monica, California and New York, New York.
